Wedding/Anniversary Gift

Most of the times a normal wedding gift will be gone in the flood of other common gifts. Sometimes it will find its way to an other wedding as a gift or sometimes it might end up in one of the forsaken racks.

Why not give a gift which the couple might actually find special and might be willing to flaunt?

For all the married couples the wedding day is special, there is no question about it.
How about using that fact in your gift?
Well, I am talking about framing their wedding invitation and gifting them.
It will definitely find a place in their list of great keepsakes.
It would be nice to see something which reminds them of their special day, hanging on their wall.

You can also use this idea as an Anniversary Gift for a special friend or relative instead of just wishing them

I tried to create the frame myself with the help of some origami paper flowers. Have a look!

If you have an hour of spare time you can try making this yourself or you can just buy a traditional Photo frame from the shop and put the wedding invitation inside, It gives that classy look.

HandMade Photo Frame

Photo frame is one gift which can be gifted on any occasion. And hand made photo frame gift is even more special. It shows not only the memories but also your effort and affection.

I made this photo frame using Ice cream sticks/craft sticks and it kinda looks cute on my wall
It is very simple to make. And you can add lot of embellishments to improvise the look.

I made a structure with the sticks using glue and then painted it with black.

Added few sparkles around the actual photo.

On the both sides I stuck the patterned paper behind the craft sticks. It can be used to write a message or get a group of friends scribble their thoughts there.

Paper cut candle gifts

Ever thought of using paper for covering glass votive candles? They look beautiful trust me!
These look amazing on your table, perfect for a candle light dinner.
They also look beautiful in the day light on your desk to show off your artistic taste.
Have a look at what I made today. They were fairly simple to make and it took me around an hour to make these.

I tried some random ideas. I am really bad at drawing and designs. While doing the floral design I kinda left the paper cutting of the leaves hanging. Liked that look.
If you are planning to try this idea, do not use the paper around a candle with out a glass votive.

Recycled Magazine Paper Gift

You can make some beautiful gifts with waste magazine papers or smooth finish news papers. Think twice before you throw the papers/magazines into trash next time. They can be put to better use with little effort
I tried to make a simple container with the waste papers today. The structure is not so even as I tried different sized circles.
Here is the result of what i made today.
It was little strenuous and it took more than hour for me to do this.

Fill this with some candies/chocolates, Tie a ribbon around and gift it to your favorite someone and make their day.

You can also put a cute stuff toy and gift it to your special someone.

This can also be used as a flower vase.

It can also be used as a candle holder. It will form beautiful shadows in the candle light.

Well the options to use it are endless. Its left to your creativity.
We can also make some beautiful jewelry with the magazine papers. I will update it in the future posts.

This one was pretty simple to make. But be ready to spend some time and get your hands dirty with glue

Friend’s Work

After reading my post on pillow post card, one of my friends shared her work to post here . Thanks a lot girl.
She did this sometime back for her boyfriend. Have a look. It isn’t exactly the post card format I was talking about.
It’s a neat design with a message. Ain’t that cute?

Pillow Post Card

Well, next time you want to send a message to your loved one. Try doing it differently.
Here is the fun way to surprise your special someone.
Make a pillow post card yourself and courier it with a special letter/message written in the postcard format.
This is more suitable for distance relationships.
Just think how nice it would be to read the message from your loved one before going to bed.
It also gives a nice cozy feeling to see your handwritten message in this age of SMSes and emails

Its really easy to make and also quite affordable.

Materials Required:

1. Pillow
2. White plain pillow case/cover
3. Permanent marker ( Preferably a sharp pointed one)

Instructions

1. Divide the cover into two halves and draw a line in the middle.
2. Write the address on the right side. Try to be creative here. Use the original postcard format
3. On the left side write your personal letter/message. You can also scribble on the back side
4. Don’t forget to add the stamp. Any stamp at all..Can be a cute heart too

Note: Try to use a permanent sharpie for writing, as the other markers might smudge a little.

Paper Plate Clock

Yes, you heard it right . Well it doesn’t really show the time but serves good for a small meaningful gift for your special someone.
Sorry for the image quality
The coloured blocks actually have letter “U” instead of numbers in the clock.

This idea works good for making a handmade card too with a cute little message inside like
“My world revolves around U”
“U are my all Time favourite ”
“Love U always”

I got these paper plates in WalMart, the color black is soo attractive
They look better on my walls than serving as normal paper plates ..

I made white Cardstock clock handles and used letter “U” instead of numbers around.

Used the paper plate for butterfly display too..Have a look..

They say picture can speak volumes and I say its very true.
This pictures gift will give voice to your feelings and will capture the essence perfectly..

Go out and get yourself clicked.
The mission is pretty simple. You will give the photos with the hidden message to your loved one and leave the delight of decoding to her/him.

For making this gift all you need is a camera/cell phone cam and a person to click your pictures (Take the help of your friend or a passerby)

Point at an alphabet in each picture. Be creative, try different places(Malls, Restaurants, shops) use the name boards, signs, wall posters anything and everything. Try different poses and expressions.
Trust me, You too will enjoy the craziness involved in making this gift , roaming around in different places, enjoying the attention of the people around looking at you for posing so weirdly near the alphabets

Cute handmade flower vase gift

I was thinking of making simple & cute handmade gifts, tried one of the ideas and it came out really well..

This gift can be a cute keepsake and can be used for gifting on any occasion (birthday gift, party favor, thanks giving gift, Christmas gift, Mother’s day, any occasion at all). You can also make it for yourself and decorate your dining table or work table.

And this one doesn’t require any special origami skills. The materials used are very cheap and the effort put in making this gift is also very less.

Time taken:
20-30 minutes

Materials Used:
1.Construction Paper/Craft Paper (I used red color for the flowers, you can use any color)
2.Small Vase (I used a tiny glass, you can experiment with any vase)
3.Twigs/Sticks
4.Scissors
5.Glue/tape
6.popsicle stick (for writing the message)
7.Pebbles/stones/sand/paper stuffing ( For filling the vase so that it can support the twigs)
8.Red Ribbon

Instructions:

1. Take a 4*4 inch construction paper and draw a spiral on it using pencil/pen

2. Cut the paper with the scissors along the spiral line till the end

3. Now start rolling the paper

4. Roll it till the end and you are done. Yes, it is that simple

5. Make 3-4 such flowers. Tape the end of the spiral flowers to the twigs so that they do not roll down.
Stuff the vase with pebbles/stones/sand and put the twigs in it.
6. Write a message on the popsicle stick and tie a ribbon around the vase.
Your gift is ready

Beautiful Hand Made Egg shell gifts

Next time you make an omlette or use eggs, don’t forget to clean the egg shells and store them for making these cute egg shell plants, flower vases. These make wonderful gifts for Easter, saying Thank you, sending a cute message, party favours or greeting someone in a special way.

These gifts look perfect on breakfast tables,on your study tables or on your desktop tables in your work place. They add that little zing to the place with cute colors and make you feel closer to mother nature.
These also make beautiful vases for small hand picked flowers.

These gifts are very easy to make and take hardly 15 mins of your effort.
Materials used:
1.Cleaned and dried egg shells
2.Potting soil
3.Coriander seeds/Grass seeds/bean seeds (you can experiment with wide variety of seeds)
Some hand picked flowers (If you are making a vase)
4.Colours (Sketches or piants) (If you want to make it more decorative, you can use glitter, ribbons, stickers etc)

Instructions:
1.Clean and dry the egg shell. (You can use blow dryer or a tissue paper to dry them)
2.Paint/sketch or decorate the egg shell. Use a pipeclener/fuzzystick/think paper and make a circle which is used as the base for the egg shell for supporting it. You can also place your egg shell in a small mud plate or a small container, put some pebbles,papers around the egg to support it.
3.fill 3/4rth of the egg shell with potting soil using a small table spoon
4.Sprinkle the seeds on the soil and cover them up. Water the plants but don’t soak them. (Wait for few days and see your little plants grow)
